At A Tech, we provide a comprehensive approach to connecting people with assistive and adaptive technology. Our clients are evaluated by clinicians and technology experts with over 35 years combined professional experience. Separating us from the pack, the pros at A Tech are informed by lived experience that inspires our work (see more in “Get to Know Us“). We are led by people with disabilities–working for people with disabilities.
- Adaptive and assistive technology assessment and procurement including technologies that improve:
- Computer access;
- Environmental control;
- Home accessibility and automation;
- Workplace ergonomics and efficiency;
- Wheeled mobility and seating systems;
- Community reintegration;
- Independence with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, self-feeding, bathing, grooming, and functional transfers.
- Home accessibility assessments. Are you or your loved one hoping to return home after an injury or medical setback that impacts physical access? We can help!
- Commercial ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance inspections. The ADA business compliance requirements went into effect on January 26, 1992. If you’re a business owner in a building constructed after that date and cited for non-compliance, you could be out tens of thousands of dollars. We can help you avoid those headaches.

You or your loved one will be evaluated using the Human Activity Assistive Technology (HAAT) model.[1] The team at A Tech employs the HAAT model in blending its four critical components with collaborative decision-making in all assistive technology service phases:
Human. Our clinical team evaluates the person we’re serving, including their clinical background, disease/diagnosis and associated physical or cognitive limitations within the framework of assistive technology service.
Activity. We assess the task(s) you or your loved one would like to improve, including:
- Returning to work/vocation;
- Accessing a computer;
- Adaptive gaming;
- Improving independence within the home or community/reducing reliance on caregivers;
- Outdoor activities such as accessing the beach, hunting, hiking, fishing, and others;
- Recreation and vacationing;
- …and more!
Assistive Technology. With over 35 years professional experience in adaptive and assistive technologies, A Tech has built an expansive–and growing–inventory of established and emerging technologies. Throughout our assessment, we collaborate with technology manufacturers for trials, demonstrations, and simulations of targeted technologies, ensuring an informed selection.
Context. Personal, social, and environmental factors are often complex and ever-changing for people living with disabilities. Guided by our own experiences living with disabilities, the team at A Tech, understands how critical our understanding of these factors is to developing a service plan.
Support
Our team’s commitment does not stop once the technology has been provided. A Tech supports individuals throughout the entire process, from assessment, to installation, follow-along communication, and ongoing tech support.
Funding
As a part of our assessment, we connect individuals with a variety of appropriate funding resources. Technology funding sources can include (but are not limited to):
- Public and/or private Insurance
- Ohio Medicaid Waiver programs
- Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC)
- Vocational rehab programs [2]
- Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
- Philanthropic organizations
- A Tech donations
- Self-purchase
We understand that financial circumstances vary. Therefore, we evaluate pro bono care requests on an individual basis to ensure that everyone has access to the assistive technologies they need.
